Lamb chops and? No, that’s it. Just lamb chops with salt and a sprinkle of coarse black pepper. To wash the lamb chops down, rooibos tea, no milk and no sugar.
Carnivore diet? Yes.
Some say the carnivore diet is a fad diet and that it’s not sustainable and so on. That may be true, so why am I on the carnivore diet?
Something else was definitely not sustainable and that was being obese. High blood sugar levels. Fatigue and a general lack of energy. Painful joints. Inflammation.
I tried the low-fat and veggies and full-grain and fruits and even the artificial sweeteners and so on diet. It did not work. It did not help at all.
I did keto, and I started seeing results and my bloodwork improved, but I was still on a plateau of some sorts. I moved from obese to overweight and there I got stuck.
Then I tried carnivore. I have to say I don’t see myself eating for the rest of my life carnivore, but I had to lose weight and thanks to the keto and then the carnivore diet or lifestyle, I now am a mere 2.6kg away from moving out of the overweight zone into the green healthy weight zone. Then I want to lose some more so that I am not just on the border, with a tiny-teeny bit more to the green side, but fully in the healthy BMI zone.
From then on, I plan to introduce some low-carb veggies, while keeping an eye on my weight and take corrective action should I slip to the heavier side again. Timely corrective action, not when I am obese and my clothes don’t fit and my blood sugar is through the roof.
I never want to be obese ever again.
For now, I feel a lot better. No, I feel great, my mind is clearer and my clothes hang like bags on me, but I am happier and when I reached my target weight, I will get new clothes piece by piece.
I was so obese, I struggled to put my wedding ring on and take it off, and now it sits very comfortably, albeit a little loose, on my finger.
Two weeks ago, I had bloodwork done, and my cholesterol was excellent and my blood sugar normal. I am still on hypertension meds, but my blood pressure was on the low side; not too low. The GP decided to keep me on the hypertension meds for now.
In the “old days” I learned that breakfast’s the most important meal of the day. Who coined that phrase? A quick search tells of the link to Kellogg, and he apparently used the slogan to market his cornflakes. Enough said.
If I am not hungry in the mornings, which is often, then I simply do not eat. Later in the day I have some boiled eggs. The same with lunch, if I am not hungry when it’s lunchtime, then I don’t eat.
I no longer consume any alcohol. I have the stretch marks on my belly that the beer and sweets and pies left there when I was obese. In my opinion, alcohol will destroy my weight-loss goals in no time.
The lamb chops are in the oven and they smell good! Almost time for dinner.
